Sunday 2. 9th May. Despite the wind, the SC& T stall stayed upright and our flyers were distributed by hand rather than all over the field - it was even, mostly, sunny! Huge thanks to Helen Lynch and Dave Lorimer, who did a stalwart job manning the stall all day, and to the other SC& T musicians who kindly showed up so we had a scratch band on the go all afternoon. The highlight of the day was when all the bhangra dancers visited the stall in their full regalia - dancing a Flying Scotsman and drawing the biggest crowd of the day! With an audience swelled by ferrets and their owners sheltering from the rain, the bodhran players played on. Our thanks go to the Banchory Birl committee for their support. The first series of SC& T workshops came to a close last weekend with packed session at Dizzy's (pictured). The workshops, in fiddle, guitar, flute and banjo/mandolin, drew plenty of folk from SC& T (and some new faces!), who signed up for a day's tuition followed by a session in the pub over the road. In particular, Banjo/Mandolin with Kevin Mac. Leod (The Occasionals) and previous SC& T tutor, Tim Jones, proved a big draw and was fully booked in advance. The session lasted well beyond the allotted two hours (special thanks to the kind souls at Dizzy's for not kicking us out at six!).
